Natalie Portman’s Kindly Kicks

Natalie Portman wears many hats: movie star, Harvard grad, humanitarian and animal rights advocate, to name a few. And now she can add fashion designer to her résumé. Next month, the Israeli-born actress and devoted vegan will debut a line of animal-friendly shoes for Té Casan, a boutique retailer based in Manhattan. The limited-edition “vegan footwear,” handcrafted from synthetic materials, costs around $200 a pair. Profits will be donated to The Nature Conservancy, an ecological protection organization.
