Dear President Trump: A fellow New Yorker is begging you – Make America COVID free again!
Dear President Trump,
I am a native New Yorker, just like you. I grew up in Manhattan and reside in Brooklyn. I am an attorney (yes, one of those people everyone loves to hate) and have a husband and a rescue puppy named Teddy. We are anxious, scared and practicing SOCIAL DISTANCING.

We even had our honeymoon cancelled, but you know what? That’s fine, because the world needs us to stay on our couch and make dinners that we post on Instagram from what we have named “Quarantino’s” restaurant. You are more than welcome to come and join us once this is over!
We are watching the GREAT businesses around us shutter doors to do THEIR PART in keeping AMERICA SAFE. They are hurting, but you know what, they are not complaining. We are also not complaining that we have to leave our apartment to walk our dog, Teddy, who happens to love treats MADE IN AMERICA, and as we do, we try and avoid what my good friend has called “invisible land-mines.” But no, not complaining, just a little scared!
I have many friends, who are healthcare workers. They are young and may be healthy, but if they do not receive (let me say this in words you will understand) very beautiful masks and gowns STAT, they may become sick or unable to work. I even have friends who are pregnant doctors taking care of SICK PATIENTS!!!
I may be a lawyer, but this seems weird to me?
My father, a doctor, almost 70 years old, who has still been going to work to treat his sick cancer patients, may have to take the front lines and work to save COVID-19 patients who were younger and healthier than him (very weird).
My family is nervous because my father, like so many others, is taking the Hippocratic oath seriously. And then what happens if he gets sick? What will happen if there are (let me say this in words you will understand) ZERO HEALTHCARE WORKERS, to take care of the sick? Please tell me, what will happen?
What will happen is the lawyers will take over. And you know what follows? HOSPITAL BANKRUPTCIES. Let me tell you what you already know: This will NOT HELP THE ECONOMY (only lawyers).

From one native New Yorker to another: Please do not try to re-open the economy by Easter. WAY TOO SOON. Please continue to urge Americans to STAY HOME and as my cousin calls it, “socially respect” one another by staying home or remaining at least six to ten feet apart if they are outside.
Please send personal protective equipment to New York hospitals and the hospitals that need it around the country.
The Defense Production Act is in full force, but haven’t had to use it because no one has said NO! Millions of masks coming as back up to States.

Do not make states outbid each other — that seems like a waste of TAXPAYER MONEY. Please do this. Please (let me say this in words you will understand) BE THE CEO OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Let’s make America COVID-19 free again.
Sincerely,
Sophie Solomon
