Woody Allen Wants To Be The Face Of The #MeToo Movement
The #MeToo movement is about justice. It’s about taking down men who abuse women. It’s about solidarity in the face of overwhelming sexual harassment. Oh, and it’s also about Woody Allen, according to Woody Allen.
In an interview with Argentinian news program Periodismo Para Todos Allen opened up about being a fan of the #MeToo movement, saying he felt like he should have a role in it. (Um, you do, Mr. Allen, just not the one you want.)
In his own words: “I feel when they find people who harass innocent women and men, it’s a good thing that they’re exposing them. But you know, I should be the poster boy for the #MeToo movement. Because I have worked in movies for 50 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of actresses and not a single one — big ones, famous ones, ones starting out — have ever ever suggested any kind of impropriety at all. I’ve always had a wonderful record with them.”
Allen denied all allegations of impropriety (that is, molesting his girlfriend’s daughter Dylan Farrow) and added that he is not pleased to be linked with the likes of Harvey Weinstein, who preyed on hundreds of women.
Alright, Woody. Take a seat while the women of the universe discuss your candidacy for the face of the #MeToo movement. We’ll get back to you. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.
