Swastikas Scrawled at Two Universities

Swastikas directed against Jewish students were found at two U.S. universities.

A swastika and an anti-Semitic epithet were scratched into the door of the campus Hillel at the University of Buffalo in Amherst, N.Y. Also, a sign for Hillel was torn down and found in a nearby garbage can.

The attack reportedly occurred over the weekend, when students were away for spring break.

The university reportedly condemned the attack in a statement.

Swastikas were scratched into two cars, and the tires slashed on two other cars, belonging to members of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity at Washington University in St. Louis. The attack reportedly occurred on March 15 or 16. The damage was discovered when the students returned from spring break.

The St. Louis radio station KSDK reported Wednesday that a woman confessed to the vandalism, saying she is an acquaintance of one of the ZBT members. Her name has not been released.

ZBT is a historically Jewish fraternity, though all of its members are not Jewish.
