Fire in Florida-22: This weekend, Allen West, the far-right candidate for representative to Florida’s district 22, home to many Jewish retirees, was hit by a big one: according to NBC’s Lisa Myers, he has ties to a motorcycle gang known as The Outlaws. In an email, West campaign’s called the attack a “political hatchet job.” “West has absolutely no ties to the outlaw bikers club,” the campaign claimed. (MSNBC)
Campaign finance numbers are in for the third quarter — and if Politico’s right, “it doesn’t pay to be a Democratic incumbent in 2010.” Indeed. Lee Fisher, Ohio’s Democratic senatorial candidate, raised $6 million, less than half the amount raised by his opponent, Rob Portman. Tea partier Christine O’Donnell raised $3.7 million. Illinois Democratic senatorial contender Alexi Giannoulias has a quarter of opponent Mark Kirk’s $4.4 million cash on hand. But in California, Republican Carly Fiorina has $1.8 million in the bank, while her opponent Sen. Barbara Boxer has more than three times that at $6.5 milion — although they raised nearly the same amount this quarter. (Politico)
The Youth Vote: Wisconsin senatorial contenders Russ Feingold and Ron Johnson are duking it out — on campus. But Feingold hit his opponent for being a no-show at University of Wisconsin – Madison. (Daily Cardinal)
