Pro-Israel PAC Gives McCain A Pass On Chafee
It doesn’t seem like pro-Israel PACs are getting too riled over Sen. John McCain’s stumping for embattled Senator Lincoln Chafee in Rhode Island this week.
McCain is a close friend of the pro-Israel community who collected money from several groups in recent years, while Chafee is among the least popular members of Congress for friends of Israel.
Nonetheless, Dr. Ben Chouake, the president of NORPAC, a New York-area pro-Israel PAC that donated to McCain’s 1998 campaign, told the Forward he was not too concerned with McCain’s campaign stop.
“I understand why [McCain was there], I think everybody does,” Chouake told the Forward. “He wants to to help his party and he’s pursuing this obligation to his colleague … [and the Republicans] need to keep their majority.”
