דער פּאָפּולערער חסידישער זינגער מענדל ראָטה האָט געמאָלדן, אַז ער האָט באַשלאָסן זיך צו פֿאַרשרײַבן אינעם נײַעם חרדישן אָפּטייל פֿונעם ישׂראלדיקן מיליטער — די „חשמונאים בריגאַדע“.
אין אַ פֿייסבוק מעלדונג האָט ער געשריבן וועגן זײַנע אינעווייניקסטע ראַנגלענישן זינט דעם אויסברוך פֿון דער מלחמה צווישן ישׂראל און כאַמאַס. „דאָס גאַנצע יאָר האָב איך געוווּסט אַז עפּעס טויג נישט אין מײַן לעבן־שטייגער. ס’גיסט זיך דאָס בלוט פֿון מײַנע ברידער און איך זיץ און שווײַג. אַנשטאָט ווײַטער צו געבן פֿאַרשידענע תּירוצים, האָב איך באַשלאָסן אַז איך מוז אויפֿשטיין און עפּעס טאָן וועגן דעם.“
„איך פֿאַרשטיי אַז בעת דער טרענירונג וועל איך זיך אפֿשר פֿילן אַז איך בין נישט פּסיכיש אָדער פֿיזיש גרייט צו דינען ווי אַ פֿראָנט־קעמפֿער,” האָט ער געשריבן. „אויב דאָס געשעט, וועל איך זיך אָפּגעבן מיטן העלפֿן דער בריגאַדע דורך גײַסטיקע און עמאָציאָנעלע מיטלען, אם ירצה־השם.“
ראָטה איז שוין באַקאַנט פֿאַר זײַנע אָפֿן־האַרציקע מיינונגען וועגן פֿאַרשידענע עפֿנטלעכע און הלכישע ענינים, וואָס שטימען נישט תּמיד מיטן צוגאַנג פֿון די חרדישע קרײַזן.
ער האָט למשל עפֿנטלעך קריטיקירט דעם שידוכים־פּראָצעס (ער אַליין האָט זיך געגט פֿון זײַן פֿרוי עטלעכע חדשים נאָך דער חתונה). ער האָט אויך געזאָגט אַז ער האַלט נישט פֿון פֿאַרווערן דאָס הערן מוזיק בעת דער ספֿירה און במשך פֿון די נײַן טעג פֿאַר תּשעה־באבֿ, און ער האָט קריטיקירט דעם פֿאַרווער קעגן עפֿנטלעך זינגען ליבע־לידער. ער האָט שוין אַליין געשריבן און רעקאָרדירט ייִדישע ליבעלידער, ווי למשל זײַן שלאַגער, „איך וויל ליב האָבן אַ מיידעלע“.
