Join Forward archivist Chana Pollack as she reflects on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.
During Insights at the Atrium: “Fire in my mouth: Remembering the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire,” Pollack will discuss the 1911 industrial tragedy, its impact and why it should be commemorated alongside composer Julia Wolfe and Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition founder Ruth Sergel.
The conversation will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, at the New York Philharmonic’s David Rubenstein Atrium in Manhattan. There, Wolfe will explain her new multimedia project, “Fire in my Mouth,” and Pollack will share archival materials from the Forward’s coverage of the fire and its aftermath. The free event will be moderated by the Philharmonic president and CEO Deborah Borda.
