Yasser Arafat hopes that President Bush will change his Middle East policies, a Palestinian official said. “I think that, like all Palestinians, he is waiting to see what President Bush is going to do to revert to a policy of peace rather than a policy of war,” Palestinian official Leila Shahid said Wednesday in France, where Arafat is undergoing medical treatment. “I am worried because President Bush has for four years been in charge of the American administration that has conducted a policy of war more than a policy of peace, and which decided to put the peace process in a freezer for the last four years.”
