C-SPAN’s Middle East Treasure Trove
In recent days, I’ve spent way too much time geeking out on C-SPAN’s video library, which was recently put online in its entirety.
The virtual library, home to 160,000 hours of video, is a treasure trove — not to mention a great procrastination vehicle — for political junkies of all stripes. And there’s plenty for those who closely follow the matzav in the Middle East, from Yitzhak Rabin’s poignant “Enough Blood and Tears” speech to the announcement of George W. Bush’s yet-unfruitful “Roadmap to Peace.” The library also contains speeches and readings from prominent Israeli journalists, novelists and academics — David Grossman, Amos Oz and Benny Morris, among them.

Why I became the Forward’s Editor-in-Chief
You are surely a friend of the Forward if you’re reading this. And so it’s with excitement and awe — of all that the Forward is, was, and will be — that I introduce myself to you as the Forward’s newest editor-in-chief.
And what a time to step into the leadership of this storied Jewish institution! For 129 years, the Forward has shaped and told the American Jewish story. I’m stepping in at an intense time for Jews the world over. We urgently need the Forward’s courageous, unflinching journalism — not only as a source of reliable information, but to provide inspiration, healing and hope.
