Watch A Six-Year-Old Yiddish Speaker Imitate The Forverts’s Cooking Show

Tzina Schulman, daughter of Yiddish educator Asya Vaisman Schulman and literary translator and KlezKanada director Sebastian Schulman, will soon turn seven. A child with many talents, she not only speaks Yiddish, English and Russian, but is also learning French and Hebrew at a Jewish day school in Montreal.
Tzina is also a big fan of the Forward’s cooking show “Est Gezunterheyt” (“Eat in Good Health”). In the video below, she channels Rukhl Schaechter, editor of the Forverts, and Eve Jochnowitz, the regular hosts of “Est Gezunterheyt,” as she prepares sushi with walnuts, providing instructions in Bessarabian Yiddish.
Tzina’s parents report that while she isn’t a great cook yet, we can expect that, after watching so many episodes of “Est Gezunterheyt,” she may soon be ready for her own show!
In addition to her love of drawing, swimming, dancing and playing board games, Tzina is also a budding Yiddish poet.
